  • Heavy equipment operation (forklift/overhead crane).
  • Fabrication and construction of test setups/specimens.
  • Assist with electronics and hydraulic configuration.
  • Direct supervision of student researchers to promote and instruct safe working space.
  • Other related functions as assigned.
  • High school graduation or GED.
  • Four years of experience in construction related fields, maintenance of equipment or apparatus of the type related to the position.
  • Vocational training in a related field is desirable.
  • Skill in the use of metal and/or woodworking fabrication equipment is desirable.
  • Experience with light welding, light electronics, hydraulics (MTS Systems controllers, actuators, and load frames), and heavy equipment operation (forklift and/or overhead crane) is desirable.
  • Willingness to learn in the position if candidate does not have the required training or experience.
  • Knowledgeable and diligent in standard safety protocols related to construction or shop practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work well as a team member and independently.
  • Ability to understand and speak English.
