About The Position

PeaceHealth is seeking a Technical Specialist for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Day position. The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $40.20 - $60.30. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc. This position provides specialized clinical laboratory services, technical support and research and development activities. Performs medical technologist or histotechnologist duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Chemical Science, or Physical Science.
  • Minimum of 4 years experience meeting minimum CLIA and CAP requirements for a technical supervisor with BS degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience meeting minimum CLIA and CAP requirements for a technical supervisor with MS degree.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience meeting minimum CLIA and CAP requirements for a technical supervisor with PhD in science degree.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of computer systems such as Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment independently or as part of a team.
  • Detail oriented with strong analysis/problem solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • ASCP Specialist certification in area of expertise QIHC within 1 year for Histotechnician or Histotechnologist.
  • ASCP Specialist certification in area of expertise preferred for Medical Technologist.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical support to technologists for all instruments.
  • Provides technical support to providers, caregivers and clients.
  • Develops and performs validation protocols for all new tests and instruments.
  • Performs competency evaluation for assigned positions.
  • Provides training on new equipment and new test procedures.
  • Ensures preventative maintenance is performed on a regular schedule.
  • Reviews and prepares daily quality control and quality assurance reports.
  • Monitors cost and efficiency of established procedures and makes improvement recommendations.
  • Completes College of American Pathologists (CAP) and other State inspection checklists.
  • Maintains an in-depth knowledge and instrumentation theory and methodology.
  • Engages in independent and/or cooperative research and development of clinical and/or pathology services.
  • Performs CAP compliance duties including periodic record reviews and equipment validation.
  • Performs duties found in the medical technologist or histotechnologist job profile.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
