About The Position

JOIN OUR TEAM AS A TECHNICAL SPECIALIST II! Advanced environmental work related to the planning, design and management of environmental data and process management projects. Job functions will include performing data reviews, project oversight, compliance QC on regulatory permits, and coordinating with inspectors, project managers, contractors, utility providers and supervisors to ensure uniform project deliverables. Will provide coordination and management assistance during the planning, design and/or implementation phases of assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of of environmental principles, project management procedures, and data management.
  • Proficient in, GIS, database, and Microsoft software.
  • Ability to create, read, and interpret moderately complex scientific plans.
  • Prepare and submit clear and precise environmental and related reports.
  • A clear understanding of regulations associated with the Southwest Florida Water Management District, Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Stormwater Pollution Prevention, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
  • Ability to prepare presentations, respond to public and elected officials' inquiries, and coordinate with stakeholders and other County departments.
  • Coordinates assigned projects with other departments, agencies, and private parties.
  • Ability to search historical documentation, platted items, record drawings to produce accurate information.
  • Work independently to produce a constructible set of plans, complete tasks, or other assignments as assigned.
  • PHYSICAL SKILLS: Ability to communicate effectively using written, verbal and visual communication.
  • EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science or related field and four (4) years of experience directly related to the environmental field.
  • LICENSE, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a valid Florida driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and supervises the preparation of the planning studies, design plans, scopes of work, specifications, permits and project schedules.
  • Produces supporting databases, tools, and documentation for environmental projects related to restoration, resilience, natural systems, illicit discharge, erosion control, stormwater, drainage, utility and landscaping.
  • Performs data QC, review, verification of formats and processes, project scheduling, coordination with other teams/agencies.
  • Tracks assigned projects, prepares status reports and reviews daily inspector reports.
  • Prepares project plans, cost estimates, technical reports and completes other tasks as assigned.
  • Provides technical assistance for in-house forces and other County departments.
  • Proficient in GIS and database design.
  • Responsibilities will include ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, preparation of standard reports and repository archiving.
  • Meet with supervisors, prepares project schedules, and track projects using Microsoft Project or similar software.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
