The Technical Specialist I position at GAC Savannah involves interpreting airplane-level requirements and designing fly-by-wire control laws to meet those requirements. The role includes developing, documenting, and inspecting simulation models for fly-by-wire control law design, analysis, and testing. The specialist will develop tools in MATLAB/Simulink to support the evaluation of various control system operating modes and support hardware in the loop testing of control laws, performing validation and verification of its requirements. Additionally, the position supports lab and flight tests of fly-by-wire airplanes, investigates control system problems, and proposes solutions. The specialist will assist with planning, coordination, and performance of design, analysis, and liaison engineering supporting the development and production of company products and services. The role requires contributing to important engineering projects, providing specialized technical assistance to team members, and using advanced techniques to solve complex problems. The specialist will work under limited supervision and act as a liaison with external representatives, while also striving to improve daily processes and maintain current knowledge in the field.

  • Interpret airplane-level requirements and design fly-by-wire control laws.
  • Develop, document, and inspect simulation models for fly-by-wire control law design, analysis, and test.
  • Develop tools in MATLAB/Simulink to support evaluation of control system operating modes.
  • Support hardware in the loop testing of control laws and perform validation and verification.
  • Support lab and flight tests of fly-by-wire airplanes.
  • Investigate control system problems and propose, implement, and test solutions.
  • Assist with planning, coordination, and performance of design and analysis.

  • Actively work to improve daily processes and ensure all work meets customer requirements.
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering required.
  • Five years of experience in aerospace industry research and development required.
  • Experience with closed-loop control system theory, MATLAB, and Simulink.
  • In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, a Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering and three years of experience is acceptable.
  • A Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering and one year of experience is also acceptable.
  • Advanced degree in engineering related field preferred.
