About The Position

The Technical Services Repair Technician is a critical role on Diamond Assets’ production floor, responsible for ensuring devices are properly inspected, repaired, erased, and dispositioned for resale or recycling. This technician performs basic IT repairs on laptops and desktops, validates data erasure, verifies storage destruction, and manages the sorting and palletizing of recycled units. The role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and an understanding of data security standards to ensure every device that moves through our facility is handled with integrity. You’ll work closely with the Technical Services Processing Supervisor to prioritize workflow and resolve issues efficiently. The ideal candidate is hands-on, reliable, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced production environment where accuracy and throughput are equally important. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience as a technology repair technician or in a similar hands-on IT role.
  • Strong knowledge of laptop and desktop hardware components and common failure points.
  • Familiarity with operating systems including macOS, Windows, ChromeOS, and Linux.
  • Understanding of NIST 800-88 data sanitization guidelines and erasure verification processes.
  • Knowledge of storage destruction methods and chain-of-custody documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining high quality and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills – both written and verbal.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a positive, collaborative attitude.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in an ITAD, refurbishment, or production/warehouse environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of Apple products and common repair workflows.
  • Basic familiarity with networking concepts (LAN, Wi-Fi) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic assessments to identify hardware and software issues on laptops and desktops.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve common hardware problems including faulty components, failed drives, and system errors.
  • Replace and repair damaged or defective parts such as hard drives, memory modules, screens, keyboards, and batteries.
  • Sort and triage devices for repair, recycling, or parts harvesting based on condition and repairability.
  • Prioritize repair work to maintain production flow and meet daily processing targets.
  • Validate and verify that data erasure has been completed on all devices in accordance with NIST 800-88 standards.
  • Inspect devices to confirm storage media has been properly destroyed when erasure is not possible.
  • Maintain accurate records of erasure verification and destruction activities for audit and compliance purposes.
  • Relay erasure and destruction data to the sales department for manifesting and customer reporting.
  • Build and organize palletized loads of recycled units for downstream processing or shipment.
  • Help manifest units that have undergone data destruction, ensuring all documentation is accurate and complete.
  • Sort devices and components by disposition category (resale, recycle, destroy) following company protocols.
  • Maintain an organized and clean work area in compliance with safety and environmental standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of all repairs, inspections, erasure validations, and dispositions performed.
  • Communicate device status, issues, and processing updates to the Technical Services Processing Supervisor.
  • Support production by ensuring all work requests are handled in a timely and accurate manner.
