About The Position

The Technical Services Manager at GAF is responsible for overseeing all analytical and process-related initiatives at the plant. This role ensures compliance with product specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations while providing technical support across various departments to achieve plant goals in safety, quality, productivity, and cost control.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical) required.
  • Minimum of 5 years' engineering experience in a continuous process environment required.
  • Minimum of 3 years in a leadership role within GAF preferred.
  • Experience in high volume manufacturing operations and physical lab testing operation required.
  • Excellent communication skills: written, verbal and listening.
  • Demonstrated advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated skill in problem solving and leading problem solving teams.
  • Intermediate financial/budgetary understanding including product cost analysis.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering preferred.
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing concepts and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to operating departments in statistical applications, process capability assessment, and problem solving.
  • Coordinate all plant technical support activities and participate on project teams to improve existing processes and raw material handling systems.
  • Capture and implement manufacturing best practices and ensure root cause analysis is integral to plant culture.
  • Understand customer needs and translate them into total manufacturing support including product/process improvements.
  • Support various departments by developing and maintaining accurate process standard databases.
  • Manage and develop systems that audit the quality of finished goods and raw materials.
  • Oversee all trials for process improvement, raw materials, and new products, including pre-trial coordination and post-trial testing.
  • Manage quality department personnel and create development plans for them.
  • Manage programs and processes for capital projects to evaluate manufacturing performance and improve cost and quality.
