About The Position

The Technical Services Manager is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all plant utility systems, including ammonia refrigeration, boiler and steam systems, CO₂ systems, compressed air systems, and supporting infrastructure. This role leads utility operations, maintenance planning, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives to support production, safety, and sustainability goals. In addition to ensuring process efficiency, this individual is also responsible for coaching and mentoring teams both within their department and cross-functionally.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Three to five years’ experience managing technical systems. Preferably in food and beverages.
  • Knowledge of Process Safety Management.
  • Experience leading and mentoring large teams
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Should have the ability to work effectively in a team-centered environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and mechanical drawings.
  • Should have a good working knowledge of the principles of Good Manufacturing Practice.
  • Ability to work in industrial environments with exposure to noise, heat, and cold.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operation and performance of ammonia refrigeration systems, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements including PSM.
  • Manage boiler and steam operations, including startup, shutdown, inspections, water treatment, and efficiency optimization.
  • Supervise operation and maintenance of CO₂ systems and compressed air systems to ensure consistent, reliable supply.
  • Manage process water systems such as well pumps, aeration tanks, DE filters, and RO systems.
  • Monitor system performance and report out on KPIs, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate repairs to minimize downtime and production impact.
  • Submit complete financial justifications for proposed equipment or other process-related capital.
  • Develop, implement and provide oversight of departmental projects to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee routine maintenance activities, budget, inspections, and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA PSM/RMP, IIAR, EPA, ASME, and local/state regulations applicable to utility systems.
  • Lead, train, and develop utility operators and maintenance personnel.
  • Establish performance expectations, schedules, and on-call coverage as required.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement programs such as Integrated Work Systems or Lean Six Sigma.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations and participate in on-call rotation.
