This support is part of Evonik’s value-added marketing concept, ensures that the sales force is knowledgeable about the nature of the Company’s nutrition and gut health products and related services, the proper use of those products. This position will have direct contact with customers and serve as an advisor to the Sales and Marketing groups, providing direct communication with customers regarding the use of Evonik’s products and services in poultry operations in North America.

Requirements

The effectiveness of this position is directly related to education in poultry nutrition and gut health, amino acid metabolism, conducting, interpretation and communication of university and customer research trials, and feed formulation.
The incumbent is required to have a PhD degree in Poultry Nutrition with knowledge/experience in gut health.
The incumbent must have demonstrated competence in conducting nutrition and gut health research as evidenced by scientific publications in which the incumbent was the principal investigator.
The incumbent will frequently interact with poultry nutritionists, veterinarians, Quality Assurance, feed mill and live production staff and may also interact with customer company owners and non-technical managerial staff.
The incumbent needs excellent communication skills to convey recommended actions as well as the value-added benefits of Evonik products and services to multiple classes of stakeholders.
In addition to the Regional Technical Director and Regional Business Directors, the incumbent will also interact with other members of the technical group, Business Managers, Business Development Managers, Animal Nutrition Services group in Germany and also global Product Management teams.
Strong teamwork and clear communication with these groups are required for optimum effectiveness of the position.
The incumbent must have good time management skills and is expected to be a good steward of all company resources, including funds expended during business travel.
This position requires an average of 50% travel.

Responsibilities

Coordinate with the Regional Technical Director and Regional Business Directors to provide nutritional and gut health, technical and operational consultation to Evonik customers to help the customer identify and solve problems in all areas of their companies and businesses and to the Evonik Business Managers and Business Development Managers to effectively meet contractual obligations and promote a partnership with the customer.
Provide nutritional and gut health consulting services to priority, target customers.
Encourage the use of Evonik’s products and services marketed by Evonik to reduce customer costs and grow Evonik’s product and services sales.
Advise and provide feedback to the Regional Technical Director, Regional Business Directors, Regional Management Team, and Sales group in identifying new opportunities for customers in quality assurance and optimization of feed formulation, nutritional and gut health technical services.
Advise the management team on changes in market conditions which could affect demand for Evonik’s products and services.
Develop innovative services to support Evonik’s value-added marketing concept.
Prepares technical papers and documents for industry, customer, and sales meetings to communicate up-to-date information on technical topics.
In coordination with the Regional Technical Director and the Regional Business Directors, trains Business Managers in the correct use of technical information, product and service positioning/selling, and respond to competitive claims.
Assists in sales calls with Business Managers to provide technical expertise and promote the proper use of Evonik products and services.
In coordination with the Regional Technical Director, assists in the development of research protocols directed at supporting contractual obligations with customers and growing Evonik’s products and services.
Monitors progress of research trials at both university and commercial levels.
Reviews data and conclusions from trials.
Report trial results internally.
Reports trial results externally, when appropriate including at scientific conferences.
Maintains technical competence through attendance and participation in scientific sessions related to poultry nutrition and gut health.
Attends professional and personal development trainings as agreed to and authorized by the Regional Technical Director and Regional Business Directors.
Develops strong working relationship with poultry nutrition/ gut health professionals who actively support the industry.
Files timely reports on customer visits and professional meetings through the customer contact database.
