About The Position

Hawkins, Inc. is a formulator, manufacturer, blender, distributer, and sales agent for thousands of industrial chemicals and reagent grade laboratory chemicals sold to municipalities and businesses throughout the Central United States. Thousands across a variety of industries have depended on Hawkins for the chemical products they need since 1938. The position involves providing technical assistance pertaining to the formulation, production, quality and testing of new and existing products and processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in a technical field (i.e. Engineering, Chemistry, Biology) required.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong understanding of chemicals and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Must demonstrate active listening, problem solving, and relationship skills.
  • Familiarity with various production/laboratory instrumentation; trouble shooting, training, start up, validation, maintenance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Ability to quickly learn and understand new computer software as it pertains to job requirements.
  • Knowledge of experimental design and statistics is preferred.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with sales on new product requests, designing, testing, prototyping new solutions.
  • Lead laboratory development work including formulation and process design.
  • Develop new product technology transfer scale up plan, including production process specifications, and quality metrics.
  • Collaborate with Operations on new product scale up implementation and ongoing production efficiency improvements.
  • Work cross-functionally with Sales, Planning, and Operations to reduce inventory and disposition costs.
  • Provide training and work direction for process technicians.
  • Produce product specifications, including Manufactured and Shipping/Receiving specifications, for all products and non-prepackaged materials to meet customer needs.
  • Provide on-site technical support for Operations and Manufacturing staff, requiring periodic travel, and extended hours.
  • Conduct general product maintenance as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
