Wieland is hiring a Technical Services Engineer. The Technical Services Engineer will be responsible for providing technical support to Wieland Rolled Products Recycling North America customers as well as the commercial and manufacturing departments. They will focus on customer satisfaction through product specification reviews, improvement of product quality, cost reductions and troubleshooting for Mill Products and Cupping organizations. This role is located in East Alton, IL and will be fully on-site. Base Salary Range: $88,000 - $110,000 May be eligible for a variable compensation plan bonus based upon company performance within fiscal year cycle. Requirements

  • B.S. in Metallurgical Engineering or Material Science is strongly preferred. Minimum of 5 years in Metals Industry. Other engineering degrees may be considered based on manufacturing and material science experience.
  • Ability to interface with a variety of internal and external individuals and complementary functional departments including but not limited to sales, supply chain, manufacturing and customers. Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Training or background in problem-solving is required.
  • Ability to discuss technical information with both technical and non-technical personnel in a professional manner

Responsibilities

  • Develop and establish hypotheses, root cause and corrective action plans for the complaint team meetings. Participate in review of effectiveness and prevention on similar product streams.
  • Ensure accurate review of customer specifications for both new and existing items. Manage process and item change requests that support the lowest cost process while meeting customer expectations and requirements.
  • Incorporate regular communication and technical support into standard work. Manage through regularly scheduled customer meetings, including documentation and action items, to drive continuous improvement. This also will include on site customer visits.
  • Participate and support internal quality audits and customer audits. Additionally, participate in subcontractor improvement efforts especially as related to claims.
  • Yield and cost improvements necessary to support location business objectives.
