The Technical Services Associate-Lighting Technician at the University of Texas at Dallas is responsible for overseeing all lighting aspects of the Harry W. Bass Jr. School of Arts, Humanities, and Technology's Operations, Productions, and Technology (OPT) team. This role involves rigging, design, programming, and operation of lighting for various events, as well as maintenance and procurement of lighting equipment. The technician will also train and supervise student workers in lighting operations.

  • Oversee all lighting aspects of the OPT team.
  • Rigging, design, programming, and operation of lighting for events.
  • Assist with setup, operation, and tear down of events.
  • Maintain, upgrade, troubleshoot, and procure lighting equipment.
  • Train and oversee student workers in lighting operations.
  • Bachelor's degree in fine art or a related field.
  • One year of experience as a technical theater professional or equivalent education and experience.
  • Highly proficient in programming and operating lighting consoles, specifically ETC EOS.
  • Familiarity with lighting software such as Vectorworks, Lightwright, Augment3d.
  • Proficient with architectural lighting systems, specifically ETC Paradigm.
  • Demonstrable experience with designing and programming theatrical productions and musical performances.
  • Advanced knowledge of lighting principles, including color theory and DMX protocols.
  • Comprehension of basic principles of AC/DC electricity and power distribution.
  • Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Degree (BA/BFA) in Theatre Production, Lighting Design, or Entertainment Technology with an emphasis in lighting and 3 years' experience as a Lighting Technician.
  • Diploma from a Technical School with 5 years' experience as a Lighting Technician.
  • Full-time position with a salary of $50,000 per year.
