About The Position

Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP (CPChem) is seeking a Film Technical Service Specialist to join the Global Polymers Applications Group. This role involves supporting existing customers, developing new applications and product technologies, and enabling business growth through collaboration with various internal teams. The successful candidate will be responsible for technical training, maintaining technical literature, and providing troubleshooting expertise to resolve customer issues. Frequent travel is required for this position, which is based at the Bartlesville Research & Technology Center.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree + 3 years' experience or High school diploma + 7 years' experience
  • Direct work experience with support of processing, equipment, and/or property testing of polymers and substrates used in the flexible packaging industry
  • Strong basic computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, data collection and basic data analysis
  • Excellent oral and written English skills and ability to communicate well across all levels within the organization
  • Ability to travel, domestic and international, according to business needs

Nice To Haves

  • Possess a bachelor's degree or higher in a plastic technology, engineering, or scientific discipline
  • Direct work experience with equipment and/or processing polymers using blown film, cast film, and/or extrusion coating processes
  • Experience with Technical Service, Product Development, and/or R D activities
  • Experience and knowledge in polymer and flexible packaging property testing, ASTM Standards, etc.
  • Familiarity or experience with polymer characterization methods/tools (e.g., thermal analysis, rheology, and FTIR, NMR, TEM, SEM, etc.)
  • Good working knowledge and familiarity with polyethylene resins and products
  • Participation in industry organizations such as ASTM, Society of Plastics Engineers, Flexible Packaging Association, Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for complaints resolution and provide trouble-shooting expertise to resolve customer product and/or process related issues
  • Work with other parts of the organization to determine root cause of product issues
  • Direct in-house experimentation for troubleshooting and/or resin/application development efforts
  • Conduct field trials at customer locations and document the information in reports
  • Maintain customer and industry forums contacts and relationships
  • Be a consultant to customers on resin selection and use
  • Provide training to internal and external customers as requested
  • Work with plants/licensees on manufacturing related technical issues
  • Prepare written presentations/reports, technical literature and oral presentations summarizing project results
  • Represent CPChem in industry forums, trade associations, and standards bodies as may be appropriate for that job function or area
  • Support and recommend programs that relate to current/future business needs
  • Participate in group safety program and activities
  • Promote Safety and Operational Excellence
  • Provide weekly reports
  • Maintain resin property/performance database
  • Execute resin evaluations and benchmarking (CPChem and competitors)
  • Travel in support of job responsibilities, which may be up to 50% of the time.
