The Technical Service Chemist position at Ross Environmental Services is a full-time role based in Elyria, OH, focused on contributing to departmental goals and achieving revenue and pricing objectives. The successful candidate will serve as an internal technical and service liaison for Territory Sales Managers, playing a crucial role in obtaining new accounts and maintaining existing ones. This involves a variety of responsibilities, including approving waste streams and lab pack inventories, generating waste stream and service price estimates, and calculating the profitability of these services. The chemist will also develop waste profiles, process methods, and safe handling protocols in compliance with applicable regulations such as RCRA, DOT, and OSHA. In addition to these responsibilities, the Technical Service Chemist will coordinate with the Logistics Department to manage scheduled shipments, which includes tasks like manifest validation and shipper creation. Proficiency in the role is demonstrated through successful completion of the company’s “First Chemist” test and handling instruction sign-off tests after the initial training period. The chemist will also provide necessary information to various departments, including Accounting, to ensure timely invoicing and will maintain a working knowledge of the company’s capabilities and regulatory requirements. The position requires a strong understanding of safety and regulatory compliance, as well as the company’s ISO 14001 Environmental Management System. Daily tasks will involve the use of advanced PC and business applications, telephone conferencing, and email communication. The role may also require additional hours or off-hours work to meet business objectives, and travel to customer sites may be necessary.
