About The Position

The Technical Sales Engineer is responsible for supporting the sales team by providing technical expertise to customers and prospects. This role bridges the gap between engineering and sales ensuring customer needs are clearly understood and appropriately addressed with the right solutions. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical knowledge with excellent communication and customer-facing skills. The Technical Sales Engineer will collaborate closely with customers to understand their specific process requirements, offer tailored product recommendations, and ensure that solutions align with both technical feasibility and manufacturing capabilities. This role will report to the VP of Sales/Business Segment Leader- Aerospace. Qualified candidates will be characterized by their highly collaborative managerial style coupled with a natural curiosity and inquisitiveness. The successful candidate must be comfortable operating in ambiguous, fast-paced, and multi-channel environments where product mix and delivery models are evolving. The candidate will be recognized for their agile approach that is transparent and open, which will allow him/her to adapt to the rapidly changing competitive landscape. Success in this role will be defined by the establishment and growth of targeted new and existing customers that will ultimately grow the bottom line as well as position HandyTube as a viable leader in the industry.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in technical discipline (mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering) or related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in technical sales
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and quality standards.
  • Effective communication and people skills with the ability to convey complex technical details to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in MS office Suite and CRM platforms, experience with ERP systems, and/or CAD software.
  • Strong leadership, time management skills, effective communication, and process-oriented skills with experience building and developing strong external customer relationships.
  • Collaborative, enthusiastic and client driven.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems (ISO 9001, AS9100) and documentation requirements.
  • Experience in complex, highly dynamic environments where the need to learn quickly and contribute immediately is required.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%, both domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Promoting Safety as the Number 1 priority of HandyTube, LLC.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to identify customer needs and provide suitable technical solutions.
  • Prepare and deliver technical proposals, cost estimates, and documentation to support the sales process.
  • Serve as a technical advisor and product expert throughout the sales cycle.
  • Understand and interpret customer specifications (e.g., ASTM, ASME, MIL standards) and translate them into manufacturing requirements.
  • Assist in responding to RFQs and other technical inquiries preparing and presenting technical documentation.
  • Provide feedback to engineering and sales team members regarding customer requirements and product performance.
  • Attend trade shows, conferences, and customer meetings to promote products and gather market insights.
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, products, and technologies.
  • Support the development of cost estimates, lead times, and production feasibility based on current plant capabilities.
  • Support post sales transition to engineering, project management, and customer support teams.
  • Collaborate effectively with HandyTube's Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and the rest of the organization to create alignment on growth initiatives, increase customer satisfaction, and improve our customer scorecards and KPIs.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the customers' business models and their unique challenges to growth or competitiveness and utilize this knowledge to facilitate a sound strategy and win new growth opportunities.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through establishing consistent communication.
  • Provide support to HTC Quality to facilitate quick responses to customer issues, product trials, and data collection activities. Liaise between HTC and the customer to ensure seamless communication throughout the RMA and RCA process.
  • Facilitate customer visits to HTC and provide plant tours to commercial and technical personnel to increase the level of confidence and secure additional business.
  • Work with HTC supply chain partners to develop special processes and expand our value-added services and product offerings.
