About The Position

Based in Texas or Louisiana and reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Technical Sales Mechanical Engineer serves as a key technical partner to the business development and sales teams. This role blends engineering expertise with strong customer‑facing capabilities, helping drive revenue growth by identifying client needs, developing customized mechanical solutions, and supporting the full sales cycle—from initial engagement through project award and execution. The ideal candidate understands mechanical systems in industrial, energy, or construction‑related environments and can translate complex engineering concepts into clear, compelling value propositions for clients. Job Scope and Tasks: Sales & Client Engagement Partner with sales and business development teams to provide engineering expertise during client meetings, site visits, proposal discussions, and solution presentations. Understand client operational challenges and develop tailored mechanical solutions that align with technical, regulatory, and commercial requirements. Prepare and present technical materials—including proposals, scopes of work, and system recommendations—that effectively communicate value to clients. Build strong client relationships by serving as a trusted technical advisor throughout the sales process. Technical Solution Development Translate client requirements into conceptual and detailed mechanical engineering designs. Conduct calculations, simulations, and system analyses to validate proposed solutions. Prepare accurate technical documentation (drawings, schematics, specifications) to support bids and project kickoff. Assist in developing cost estimates and competitive bid packages for engineered solutions. Cross‑Functional Collaboration Work closely with project managers, operations personnel, and engineering teams to ensure proposed solutions are feasible, safe, and compliant with all industry standards. Support procurement efforts by assisting in the identification and evaluation of mechanical components and materials required for proposed systems. Participate in internal strategy and project meetings to ensure alignment between sales objectives and engineering capabilities. Field & Client Support Conduct field assessments, site inspections, and technical evaluations to inform solution recommendations. Provide ongoing technical support to clients and internal teams during project execution and post‑sale follow‑up. Monitor system performance and recommend enhancements or upgrades to support long‑term customer relationships and potential repeat business. Industry & Product Expertise Maintain knowledge of relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API). Stay current on emerging technologies, market trends, and competitive offerings within the industrial and mechanical systems space. Continuously contribute to the improvement of sales engineering tools, templates, and processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Construction Science (required).
  • 3–5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, technical sales, applications engineering, or project engineering in industrial, construction, or energy environments.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, equipment selection, and engineering fundamentals.
  • Proficiency with engineering design software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical solutions to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Strong presentation abilities and comfort engaging directly with clients.
  • Ability to manage multiple opportunities, proposals, and timelines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with attention to detail in design and documentation.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to partner effectively with sales, engineering, and operations teams.
