About The Position

Athennian increases trust in business. Our products help legal, finance, and tax teams be transaction and audit-ready by organizing business entity and corporate structure information. Over a million business entities in almost every country are managed on Athennian to automate workflows for ownership, company secretarial, governance, tax, and compliance. We’re seeking a Technical Sales Engineer (TSE) who combines technical depth with commercial savvy to accelerate revenue growth. Reporting to the VP of Revenue, you’ll bridge customer needs with product capabilities—designing clear, scalable solutions that shorten sales cycles and improve win rates. You’ll lead technical discovery, craft solution architectures, deliver compelling demos and proofs-of-concept (POCs), and provide hands-on support through the evaluation process. This role is best suited to someone who thrives at the intersection of technology, storytelling, and business outcomes.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in sales engineering or solution consulting for B2B SaaS.
  • Strong understanding of REST APIs, OAuth/OIDC/SAML SSO, webhooks, and data-integration concepts.
  • Proficiency with Postman, OpenAPI, and basic SQL; scripting experience (JavaScript or Python) a plus.
  • Proven ability to lead mid-complexity demos and POCs independently.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills across technical and business audiences.
  • Commercial fluency — able to articulate ROI, TCO, adoption trade-offs, and value realization.
  • Familiarity with legal, governance, or compliance workflows is an asset.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • Eligible to work full-time in Canada or the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed technical discovery to map data flows, integrations, and security/identity needs.
  • Design and document solution architectures using Athennian’s APIs, SSO, and data-migration frameworks.
  • Distinguish between standard and custom integration paths; escalate complex or non-standard requests to Product or Engineering.
  • Advise customers on best practices for embedding Athennian in their existing tech stacks.
  • Deliver persona-based demos tailored to legal, finance, and compliance stakeholders.
  • Scope, manage, and execute time-boxed POCs or proofs-of-value with clear success criteria and outcomes.
  • Maintain demo environments, scripts, and supporting materials to ensure consistency and scalability.
  • Ensure technical validation work remains pre-sales in nature and does not extend into implementation or development.
  • Create and refine reusable sales assets (demo paths, ROI/TCO calculators, technical FAQs).
  • Partner with Account Executives to address technical objections and position commercial value effectively.
  • Contribute to RFPs, security questionnaires, and technical documentation that support enterprise sales motions.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Enablement to align messaging and technical proof points; support, but do not own, enablement strategy.
  • Provide clear technical documentation and context during handoff to Customer Success or Implementation.
  • Capture and relay product feedback and feature requests from the field to Product and Engineering.
  • Partner cross-functionally to ensure a smooth post-sale transition and identify expansion opportunities.
  • Work with Product, Engineering, and Marketing to align solution capabilities with go-to-market strategy.
  • Support partner and integration teams in developing joint collateral or co-delivered technical sessions.
  • Contribute to internal knowledge bases and solution pattern libraries.
