About The Position

Join our team as a Technical Sales Engineer, where engineering expertise meets customer partnership. In this dynamic role, you'll interpret complex material testing specifications, develop accurate quotes, and manage projects that serve mission-critical clients in the Aerospace, Defense, Nuclear, and Materials Production industries. You'll build lasting relationships with key accounts, ensure seamless coordination across departments, and help drive growth by providing innovative, technical solutions tailored to customer needs. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer who thrives at the intersection of technical precision and client collaboration. This is an onsite role, working at our facility in Hatfield, PA. The hours are Monday to Friday from 8am to 4:30pm. We are not working with agencies and are unable to offer sponsorship at this time. The Technical Sales Engineer is primarily responsible for interpreting material testing specifications and requirements to create quotes for various material tests including mechanical testing, non-destructive testing, chemical analysis, and metallography. They assist with project management and provide ongoing support for their assigned accounts. Responsible for achieving individual, team, and company sales goals by managing a growing portfolio of major B2B clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, materials engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a mechanical engineer, test engineer, or another related engineering role.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical documents, specifications, and engineering drawings.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks for creating detailed cut-up and manufacturing plans.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Project and Planner.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments to ensure project completion.
  • Willingness to engage in significant training across multiple testing disciplines.
  • Commitment to ongoing learning to build a deep understanding of testing fundamentals and processes.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Must meet citizenship eligibility required by accrediting bodies.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a technical sales or other customer-facing engineering role, with a proven ability to translate technical requirements into practical solutions for clients.
  • Strong customer service orientation and a proactive sales mindset - able to identify opportunities for account growth, cross-selling, and long-term relationship development.
  • Hands-on experience with Infor Cloud Suite Industrial (or comparable ERP/MRP system).
  • Prior experience in an engineering test laboratory environment.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and customer specifications for mechanical and materials testing.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key decision makers and serve as the primary point of contact for the assigned accounts.
  • Prepare estimates in accordance with detailed material testing specifications to determine the applicable testing and cost.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for all LTI departments to ensure that customer's scheduled turnaround dates are met.
  • Provide feedback or correspondence on any issues, deadline changes, and cost issues that may come up with the project
  • Attend daily status meeting to review open quotes, orders, issues, and assignments.
  • Respond to customer order status inquiries and requests for quotations.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled account maintenance calls and use cross-sell techniques to increase the value of the customer, and/or prevent attrition.
  • Focus on customer retention and account growth.
  • Continually promote the wide range of benefits and services LTI offers and propose solutions that meet customer and company objectives.
  • Provide customers with industry knowledge and expertise, exceptional customer service and support, and quality services with consistent outcomes.
  • Understand and comply with LTI's QA program, internal policies, and procedures.
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations and utilizes personal protective equipment, as required in designated areas.
  • Other duties as assigned by the manager and management.
