About The Position

The position involves leading data analysis and safety initiatives within the BMW Group's production environment. The role focuses on ensuring compliance with safety standards, developing safety strategies, and implementing programs to enhance workplace safety and ergonomics. The individual will work independently and as part of a team to address safety concerns, conduct training, and manage projects aimed at achieving sustainable safety targets.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Health, Ergonomics, or Engineering; OR AS degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Health, or Ergonomics AND 2 years of professional experience; OR equivalent of 4 years of professional experience in related fields.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in Industrial Safety, Ergonomics, or Industrial Hygiene.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in project management (preferred).
  • 3+ years of professional automotive/manufacturing experience (preferred).
  • ASP, GSP, SMS, or OSHA Safety & Health Fundamentals Certificate.
  • Certified Professional Ergonomist (preferred).
  • Certified Safety Professional (preferred).
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (preferred).
  • 5+ years of MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Access).
  • 5+ years of professional communication skills (verbal, written, presentation).
  • 5+ years of knowledge in OSHA general industry standards.
  • 5+ years of knowledge of anthropometric data use.
  • 3+ years of skills in managing industrial hygiene topics.
  • 2+ years of knowledge in performing ergonomics force measurements.
  • 1+ years of knowledge of controls, safety devices, and systems.
  • Basic ability to train groups effectively.
  • Basic knowledge of ergonomic analysis, best practices, and principles.

  • 3+ years of professional experience in project management (preferred).
  • 3+ years of professional automotive/manufacturing experience (preferred).
  • Certified Professional Ergonomist (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Leads data analysis for problem-solving activities related to safety topics.
  • Ensures effective root cause and countermeasures are identified for OSHA recordables.
  • Develops and implements department safety strategies, programs, and communication for the annual business plan.
  • Maintains knowledge and recommends changes to processes and equipment based on safety standards and policies.
  • Serves as the department subject matter expert for compliance and incident investigation.
  • Supports investigations and claim closures for IHS, EIP, and Workers Compensation.
  • Oversees and manages the industrial hygiene program and sampling operations.
  • Leads ergonomics studies and assessments of associate risk for new products and process changes.
  • Trains department Safety Associates and leads safety classes.
  • Manages projects to ensure sustainable target achievement and reports status to management.
  • Develops safety and ergonomics training and communication as required.
  • Assesses risk of new technology and process modifications.
  • Recommends engineering safety controls for new and series processes.
  • Analyzes safety hazards in jobs, processes, and products.
  • Coordinates safety into bid packages and new equipment installations.
  • Collaborates with line builders and planners on safety-related reviews.
  • Coordinates internal and external audits involving ISO 45001.
  • Performs equipment buy-off procedures for new processes and equipment installations.
  • Models VPS principles and adheres to 5S and Safety Standards.
