About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Administrator, selected candidate will act as the Department Technical Advisor and supervise the alteration, repair, erection and dismantling of related structural items pertinent to the operations of the Technical Services Masonry Unit. Duties include but are not limited to the following: - Act as the Department's Technical Advisor for Masonry for the agency. - Oversee work of skilled Bricklayers and Mason Helpers. - Prepare work schedules and assignments throughout the five boroughs. - Prepare equipment lists required for individual jobs, based on information obtained from plans and specifications or field measurements. - Order tools, equipment and materials required for work assignments. - Provide cost estimates. - Inspect job sites to determine the need for repair, alteration or maintenance. - Monitor work performance for compliance with work standards, job orders, codes and/or specifications. - Maintain records and prepare reports. - Perform related duties. Note: Due to the existence of a civil service list, candidates must have permanent civil service status in the title of Supervisor Bricklayer to be considered.
