The UMB Governance organization within Enterprise Technology Services (ETS) is comprised of IT leaders, project managers, architects, software engineers, and analysts coming from diverse background and experiences. Functionally, the Governance Organization provides guidance and oversight to IT processes, projects, capacity, and risk management functions to ensure appropriate strategies, policies and controls are executed effectively and efficiently. As a Technical Project Manager, you will lead multiple enterprise projects interacting with cross-functional teams comprised of internal and external technical contributors, IT managers and various other stakeholders. You will serve as the liaison with project sponsors, vendors and will facilitate continuous communication and manage expectations. You will be expected to coordinate the resolution of complex issues and challenging situations. This is a subset of the overall responsibilities which will include multiple initiatives as assigned by IT leadership. This role is hybrid (Mon to Thu on-site) and located the UMB Tech Center in our downtown Kansas City, MO location. How you will spend your time: Manage one or more projects within the constraints of scope, quality, time and cost, to deliver specified requirements and meet sponsor, management and stakeholder satisfaction. Manage and deliver the required products for each project, phase, or stage of a project based on that project's work plan. Obtains signoff from project sponsor on deliverables and project completion. Ensure quality is achieved as planned to include enabling quality assurance and quality control as appropriate. Deliver and ensure adherence to time, budget and deliverables and project milestones within agreed tolerances, manage tradeoffs between scope, schedule, quality and cost, and monitor and control the progress of the project at an operational level. Obtain, direct, motivate and manage people including managing the work and resources involved. Establish and update project plans and project schedules with forecasts and actuals and manage deviations from plan. Report to respective stakeholders through various methods including team meetings, status reports, steering committee or oversight meetings; etc. Liaise with project sponsors, customers, vendors or partners and facilitate communication to all involved as appropriate and manage expectations with all stakeholders. Escalate decisions and unresolved issues to the next level of management. Communicate, facilitate and manage resolution to complex issues and challenging situations and personnel. Conclude the work upon completion or premature cessation including preparing lessons learned and appropriately close all financial budget and project issues. Close all project documentation and archive appropriate records. Ensure proper hand off to maintain ongoing support, as needed. Ensure the visibility of the business case or project scope and all project requirements and objectives are properly documented and communicated throughout the project team. Understand technical architecture and systems, participate in technical discussions, and contribute to technical decisions to serve as the technical subject matter expert. Ensure EPMO methodology, standards, process and procedures are followed on all projects. Communicate and train team members on processes where needed such as change control, procurement, etc. Document, obtain approval and enforce project change management with all stakeholders. Make recommendations to improve methodologies, processes and templates. Obtain and manage project budget and approve of all project expenditures. Track expected versus actual expenditures and provide budget reports to Manager of EPMO and Senior or Executive Management when required. Facilitate project risk reviews and proper mitigation. Review contracts, statements of work and ensure proper sign offs and involvement of key associates. Bridges the gap between engineering teams and business stakeholders, managing software or technical projects from inception to completion
