Description : BS or MS Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering or equivalent Strong experience in design and/or development of plastic parts for the automotive industry Confirmed experience leading cross-functional technical teams (technical leadership, not direct line management) Strong experience in automotive plastics development and industrialization Good understanding of injection molding processes Solid knowledge of part geometry, GD&T and measurement principles Good understanding of checking fixtures, validation equipment and testing on plastic parts Experience managing product development timing and engineering planning Experience working with OEMs (multiple OEMs preferred; single OEM acceptable if strong overall background) Project management skills (planning, coordination, reporting) Strong organizational and time-management skills Good communication and leadership abilities Good level of English Willingness to travel within the USA and internationally (including Mexico – Puebla, San Luis Potosí) Job Description Details: Ensure product design and industrialization including associated tools (molds, checking fixtures, validation equipment) in compliance with QCT targets (Quality, Cost, Timing) Ensure robust manufacturing and non-event launches Act as main technical interface with the customer during design and tuning phases Analyze customer requirements and define product specifications including GD&T Define product design concepts in line with customer specifications and internal standards Ensure Design for Manufacturing requirements are fulfilled (assembly, paint, plant constraints, packaging) Manage and perform risk analysis (DFMEA, design reviews) Manage specification, manufacturing and validation of tools (injection molds, checking fixtures, EOAT, test jigs) Lead product validation activities (functional, geometrical and cosmetic validation) Manage product and mold tuning phases Define Statement of Work (SOW) for engineering perimeter including extended team Define engineering planning and manage project reviews Consolidate actions, provide structured reporting and follow action plans Track perimeter changes and report to Project Manager Participate in feasibility milestones (QUAD reviews) and Launch Readiness process Manage engineering budget (hours, cost, travel) and ensure alignment with PRU targets Allocate budget to extended team and ensure resource availability Monitor budget deviations and raise alerts when needed Contribute to investment optimization through part design decisions Participate in continuous improvement and lessons learned capitalization Depending on project size, directly perform part of extended team activities Profile: Product Development Engineer – Automotive Plastics Confirmed level (5+ years experience preferred) Strong technical leadership profile (technical coordination, not administrative) More technical than administrative, capable of understanding all disciplines involved Strong cross-functional coordination capability Deep understanding of plastics, injection molding and industrialization processes Strong analytical mindset with structured approach Able to synthesize complex technical topics clearly Comfortable interacting with OEMs and plant teams Organized, rigorous and proactive Open to travel and plant support activities

Requirements

Responsibilities
