About The Position

At this senior level, technology leaders have full professional competence to manage one or more technology projects concurrently with emphasis on technology development and management. Develop feasibility analysis based on conceptual understanding, initiate projects timelines, develop project proposals and plan work execution. Supervise 1 or more technicians.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in one of the physical sciences, preferably in Chemsitry.
  • Seven years of experience, preferably in an industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of product formulation, evaluation and testing.
  • Ability to travel a maximum of 10%.
  • Extensive knowledge of the company’s products.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop new technologically innovative products that delight consumers and fit within the company’s strategic plan. Identify, develop, and modify new technologies from outside sources. Identify and engage external vendors and technical resources that can fill gaps /assist in-house developers with continuing technical issues.
  • Manage technical development teams to set up product scope documents and expectations, address issues with formulation, safety, logistics, processes, and costs. Establish timelines and track progress, and plan for contingencies to keep project commitments.
  • Partner with Marketing on concept feasibility, success criteria and development milestones. Partner with Marketing, Procurement, Finance, Operations, and Consumer Affairs to ensure that all necessary parameters are tracking and that the proper functions are engaged to avoid last minute issues.
  • Represent Technology Development at weekly/biweekly core Platform meetings. Provide technological assessments and recommendations for new and existing products.
  • Provide leadership in transitioning technology to Process Development for scale-up, process qualification and early production to ensure a smooth transition to Operations.
  • Provide production support for raw material replacement, process improvement and cost savings programs.
  • Complete and provide all pertinent Technology specifications to include (but not limited to) Technical Feasibility, Product Specifications, Material Safety Data Sheets, ACMI & Micro documentation test methods and conversion methods.
  • Work with patent attorneys to ensure adequate IP assessments including Freedom to Practice, patentability, claim support, etc. Assemble and provide all necessary documentation. Review and revise applications as necessary before final submission.
  • Design and utilize Consumer Research throughout product development to identify consumer insights.
  • Develop product description, instructions, safety and care information for product package copy.
  • Present new and upcoming technologies (new product development, product improvements, and cost savings) to management at Technology Forums. Prepare power point presentations and product displays.
  • Supervise and mentor R&D technologist. Design and assign tasks for completion of lab work. Provide training, guidance, and assistance.
