Technical Project Manager

ALTEN Technology USAFoster City, CA
$110,000 - $120,000

About The Position

We’re ALTEN Technology USA, an engineering company helping clients bring groundbreaking ideas to life—from advancing space exploration and life-saving medical devices to building autonomous electric vehicles. With 3,000+ experts across North America, we partner with leading companies in aerospace, medical devices, robotics, automotive, commercial vehicles, EVs, rail, and more. As part of the global ALTEN Group—57,000+ engineers in 30 countries—we deliver across the entire product development cycle, from consulting to full project outsourcing. When you join ALTEN Technology USA, you’ll collaborate on some of the world’s toughest engineering challenges, supported by mentorship, career growth opportunities, and comprehensive benefits. We take pride in fostering a culture where employees feel valued, supported, and inspired to grow. Location: Foster City, CA We’re looking for a highly self-sufficient engineer who can operate as a hybrid Harness / Mechanical Integration Engineer to enable fast, safe, and serviceable implementation of low-voltage electrical systems in our vehicles. This role bridges harness routing/retention and mechanical packaging, focusing on practical solutions such as brackets, clips, clamps, channels, strain relief, and protective features to ensure electrical components and harnesses can be installed reliably in real vehicles. The ideal candidate can independently take loosely defined integration problems, drive the design to a manufacturable solution, and support prototype builds with minimal guidance.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in project management and a Bachelor's in Business, Communications, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with resource management software (e.g., JIRA) to develop project plans and track asset availability against timelines.
  • Successful track record of delivering multiple complex automotive technical projects in parallel.
  • High degree of understanding of vehicle testing and development. You should understand system interactions and dependencies.
  • Familiarity with prototype or pre-production vehicle testing and development.
  • Expert-level ability to structure boards, workflows, and dashboards that provide real-time visibility into project health without creating "admin debt" for engineers.
  • A "closer" mentality with a high sense of ownership. You are known for closing loops without supervision and preventing scope creep in fast-moving environments.
  • Calm under pressure, concise in communication, and capable of synthesizing shifting priorities into a clear path forward.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in a startup or high-growth "execution-first" environment.
  • Familiarity with vehicle development cycles and prototype hardware management.
  • Experience with autonomous vehicle platforms and software development.

Responsibilities

  • Own the delivery status of specific attribute roadmap milestones. You ensure that "on track" is a reality, not just a status color, by identifying and clearing blockers before they stall progress.
  • Work 1:1 with engineering and test leads to surface local execution risks — such as vehicle downtime, instrumentation delays, or hardware shortages — and implement immediate recovery plans.
  • Run, maintain, and continuously improve our JIRA structures, sprint cadences, and reporting rituals. Your goal is to create a system that allows engineers to focus on engineering while
  • self-coordinating through your framework.
  • Manage and disposition all cross-functional requests, ensuring dependencies between stakeholders are clearly defined and closed.
  • Translate moving targets and technical complexities into concise, actionable updates for leadership.
