As a Technical Project Manager on the Hardware Team at Field AI, you will coordinate end-to-end hardware execution, from early stage development through production and scaling. You’ll work directly with engineers across electrical, mechanical, sensing, and compute disciplines to keep designs aligned and moving forward. Your responsibilities include defining program schedules, translating engineering requirements into actionable plans, and organizing design reviews (PDR/CDR) to ensure teams stay on track. In addition to development you will work with the operations team coordinating relationships with vendors and contract manufacturers as we scale production. You will also work with external labs and partners to support certification efforts (EMI/EMC, FCC, CE) and environmental testing such as IP ratings.

  • Program & Portfolio Leadership: Build hardware team roadmaps across development and operations. Identify critical paths, coordinate dependencies and drive weekly progress.
  • Manufacturing & Scaling: Develop and maintain a resilient supply chain by tracking long-lead components, evaluating vendor options, and coordinating with suppliers. Assess and manage manufacturing paths including contract manufacturers, local technicians, and internal builds.
  • Testing & Validation Management: Define validation plans (thermal, ingress, reliability, functional), allocate prototype units, manage test fixtures and setups, and verify test results. Ensure hardware meets the requirements for reliable field deployment.
  • Compliance & Certification: Work closely with EE and ME teams to ensure designs are ready for certification. Coordinate external lab logistics for EMI/EMC, IP and other critical certifications
  • Documentation Management: Maintain current design files, test results, build procedures, and release documentation. Ensure engineering changes are version-controlled and clearly communicated across teams and vendors.
  • Cross-Functional Integration: Facilitate alignment between hardware and autonomy/software teams, operations, platform integrators and field deployment groups. Represent hardware in company-wide planning.
  • 5-10 years of experience in hardware program management in a cross-discipline environment (EE/ME/FW/Test). Experience running hardware through validation cycles. Strong familiarity with certification processes (EMI/EMC, FCC, IP ratings).
  • Technical ability to engage with electrical, mechanical, sensing and compute teams and understand system-level trade-offs.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, comfortable working with engineers, operations teams, external labs and company leadership.
  • BS in EE, ME, CE, Robotics or related; MS a plus but not required.
  • Track record of managing multiple concurrent hardware programs, vendor relationships, schedule risk and cross-team dependencies.
  • Experience in robotics, autonomous systems, or sensing/compute payloads.
  • Experience in both structured and agile/hands-on environments (e.g., small hardware team inside larger org or scrappy startup).Experience scaling production of technical hardware systems.
