Position Summary The Technical Project Manager – Digital IT is responsible for leading the successful delivery of complex, cross-functional technology initiatives within Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Digital & IT organization. This role manages the full project lifecycle — from initiation through execution, delivery, and closeout — across digital transformation, cloud, data analytics, infrastructure, and cybersecurity programs. The TPM ensures all projects are delivered on schedule, within scope and budget, and in compliance with Thermo Fisher’s global IT governance standards. The ideal candidate has a strong background in technical project management, excellent stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to operate effectively within a matrixed, global, and regulated enterprise.

Requirements

  • Technical Expertise Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, cloud technologies (Azure, AWS), data integration, and application ecosystems (SAP, Salesforce, Workday, ServiceNow).
  • Familiarity with DevOps, Agile, and SDLC principles.
  • Knowledge of data analytics platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, Power BI) and automation technologies (UiPath, Power Automate).
  • Project Management Skills Proven experience leading medium to large-scale IT or digital transformation projects.
  • Proficiency in project portfolio tools (Planview, Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet).
  • Strong analytical, financial management, and risk mitigation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives across geographies and time zones.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
  • Proactive problem solver with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification.
  • Previous IT Project Management or Digital Transformation experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 8 years’ experience)
  • Able to communicate, receive, and understand information and ideas with diverse groups of people in a comprehensible and reasonable manner.
  • Able to work upright and stationary for typical working hours.
  • Ability to use and learn standard office equipment and technology with proficiency.
  • Able to perform successfully under pressure while prioritizing and handling multiple projects or activities.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check, which includes a drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Project Planning and Delivery Lead end-to-end planning and execution of IT and digital projects supporting Thermo Fisher’s enterprise technology strategy.
  • Define project scope, deliverables, timelines, resources, and success metrics, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Manage delivery across domains including cloud infrastructure, data platforms, enterprise applications, and cybersecurity.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, RAID logs, and dashboards in accordance with PMO standards.
  • Apply Thermo Fisher’s Digital IT governance, compliance, and validation frameworks to all project deliverables.
  • Execution and Oversight Drive daily execution with cross-functional teams of engineers, developers, and technical specialists.
  • Oversee vendors and managed service providers to ensure timely, quality outcomes and adherence to SLAs.
  • Manage risks and dependencies across multiple concurrent initiatives; implement mitigation and contingency plans.
  • Support Agile and hybrid delivery models, facilitating sprints, retrospectives, and release planning as appropriate.
  • Governance, Compliance, and Reporting Ensure adherence to GxP, GDPR, HIPAA, and IT Quality Management (QMS) standards.
  • Oversee project validation documentation, including IQ/OQ/PQ, change control, and audit readiness deliverables.
  • Generate executive-level reports, performance metrics, and portfolio dashboards using Planview, Smartsheet, Power BI, or ServiceNow ITBM.
  • Stakeholder and Vendor Management Collaborate with business relationship managers, technical leads, and global IT partners.
  • Engage with external vendors to support technology implementation and integration.
  • Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, translating complex technical information into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
