About The Position

Join Amazon Legal Operations and Outside Counsel Management (OCM) as a strategic Finance and Budgeting Program Manager driving financial excellence across our external legal spend portfolio. You'll own the complete lifecycle of legal budget management—from annual planning through quarterly forecasting and performance monitoring—while serving as the financial architect for OCM's technology-enabled transformation strategy. This role uniquely combines deep financial expertise with technical program management capabilities, partnering with engineering teams to build AI-enabled, automated workflows that transform manual financial processes into intelligent, self-service systems.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of technical product or program management experience
  • 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
  • 3+ years of software development experience
  • 5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience
  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience
  • Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
  • Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership

Responsibilities

  • Own the annual budget planning process for Amazon's external legal spend, partnering with Finance and legal leadership to develop comprehensive forecasts and financial models supporting strategic decisions about retainer structures, fixed-fee arrangements, and budget allocation
  • Manage the complete budget lifecycle from annual allocation through quarterly reviews, ensuring legal teams have real-time visibility into their financial position while coordinating budget moves and reallocations across practice areas
  • Drive AI and automation initiatives that transform manual financial workflows into intelligent, scalable systems—including automated data reconciliation, anomaly detection, and predictive forecasting
  • Partner with technology and engineering teams to design and implement automated solutions that reduce manual effort and increase accuracy, building self-service dashboards and AI-enabled tools
  • Serve as the primary financial partner to legal teams, providing guidance on budget planning, spend optimization, and financial decision-making while collaborating cross-functionally with Finance, Legal Tech, Procurement, and business stakeholders
