About The Position

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers. People shop on Google more than a billion times a day - and the Commerce team is responsible for building the experiences that serve these users. The mission for Google Commerce is to be an essential part of the shopping journey for consumers - from inspiration to to a simple and secure checkout experience - and the best place for retailers/merchants to connect with consumers. We support and partner with the commerce ecosystem, from large retailers to small local merchants, to give them the tools, technology and scale to thrive in today’s digital world. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $163,000-$237,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program management.
  • Experience with machine learning infrastructure capacity planning.
  • Experience in Technical Infrastructure (TI) resource management.

Nice To Haves

  • 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience in executive resource management/infrastructure planning roles (e.g., managers/team leads).
  • Experience in more than one of these areas, such as video technologies, data center infrastructure (e.g., compute/storage/networking), capacity/supply chain planning.
  • Familiarity with programming some scripting in SQL or SQL-like languages, general system concepts and strong technical aptitude.
  • Ability to amicably bring along a set of opinions to forge a way forward to guide business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Own the plan of record for Commerce's infrastructure resource needs this implies being able to articulate the needs of the product groups, the financial trade-offs.
  • Partner with resource management lead to represent commerce's opinion in Google-wide infrastructure resource fulfillment and pricing policies.
  • Partner with engineering team to design, build and administer tooling to help scale the resource planning function.
  • Guide process and communication cadence to foster alignment on resource health and efficiency efforts within Commerce and across partner product areas (e.g., Ads, Core, Storage, etc.), Finance and Capital Engineering teams.
  • Manage Commerce's resource planning budget.
