About The Position

A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers. As a Data Operations Technical Program Manager for Google Beam, you will lead the data acquisition operations that power our machine learning models and computer vision algorithms. You will be responsible for innovating, operationalizing, and scaling our data capture processes and ensuring our algorithms are trained on high-fidelity visual and audio inputs. In this role, you will bridge the physical and digital worlds by managing captures and collaborating with cross-functional teams to build ML and algorithmic solutions for new products. Google Beam is a true-to-life new communication technology from Google that allows people to feel like they’re having real face-to-face conversations, no matter the distance. Powered by realistic state-of-the-art 3D imaging and spatial audio and integrated with today’s leading remote video platforms, Google Beam enables you to be immersed in the moment, together. As a part of the Google Beam team, you'll work with incredible teammates across all major functions in a fast-paced product-oriented environment. Your contributions will have an impact on the future of communications with Google products. You will apply technology to solve that really important problem that we often want to be together and we can’t.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program management.
  • Experience in training data for ML models (e.g. handling, managing, and coordinating training data).
  • Experience with the full machine learning (ML) model life-cycle, including development, deployment, and monitoring.

Nice To Haves

  • 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience with video and audio capture, including selecting and debugging cameras, lenses, microphones, and sensors to ensure high-quality data.
  • Experience in managing external partners and vendors.
  • Experience analyzing data from video and audio sources to create digital visual representations.

Responsibilities

  • Identify process bottlenecks in the data pipeline, implement automation or tooling to drive improvements, identify key data collection gaps, and establish mechanisms to maintain a high quality model output.
  • Align synthetic and real-world data collection roadmaps between Google organizations to enable deeper technical and product collaboration.
  • Drive the data acquisition plan of record, aligning vendor capacity with engineering milestones and product launch cycles.
  • Develop creative solutions for complex logistical challenges in unique, remote, or constraint-heavy environments.
  • Partner with Engineering to design and iterate on data collection hardware rigs, providing feedback from the field to improve device ergonomics and reliability.
