About The Position

A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers. Our mission is to ensure the seamless integration of hardware into Google's global data center fleet, encompassing both Google proprietary and third-party data center environments. We bridge the gap between new product introduction (NPI) and physical deployment, focusing on cloud, accelerators (including TPUs/GPUs), machines, and physical infrastructure. In this role, you will collaborate extensively with System Infrastructure, Global Data Centers, Platform Engineering, and Capacity Planning. Your work will involve in-depth technical analysis of space, power, cooling, and networking constraints to guarantee new technologies are deployed predictably, efficiently, and at scale. You will influence product design for deployability, develop canonical layouts, and support the evolution of our data center infrastructure and tooling to accommodate the rapid advancements in machine learning and cloud computing. This role is critical to optimizing the total cost of ownership (TCO) and maximizing the value derived from every square foot of Google's server floor footprint. Google Cloud accelerates every organization’s ability to digitally transform its business and industry. We deliver enterprise-grade solutions that leverage Google’s cutting-edge technology, and tools that help developers build more sustainably. Customers in more than 200 countries and territories turn to Google Cloud as their trusted partner to enable growth and solve their most critical business problems.

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program management.
  • Experience in data center infrastructure (i.e., power space, cooling, networking).
  • Experience with AutoCAD and design documents.

Nice To Haves

  • 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience with colocation capacity planning, including the use and automation of planning and optimization tools.
  • Experience as an Electrical Engineer, Civil Engineer, Architectural, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience with data center, networking and machine deployments, including an understanding of deployment process.
  • Familiarity with new product introduction (NPI) process and Product Life Cycle (PLC), particularly as related to hardware products for machine learning (ML) and high-performance computing.
  • Ability to drive tools and automation for continuous process improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct technical feasibility studies for NPIs, analyzing power, space, cooling, networking, and physical infrastructure compatibility within data centers.
  • Develop and maintain optimal rack layouts and server hall designs for various hardware configurations, including high-density ML deployments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Platforms, Data Center Construction, Networking) to define interface requirements and ensure new products are designed for scalable and efficient deployment.
  • Drive the integration of new physical infrastructure technologies and cooling solutions to support next-generation hardware.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of tooling and automation for data center layout planning and constraint management.
