Technical Program Manager III, Capacity Delivery, Cloud Networking

GoogleAddison, TX
1d$156,000 - $229,000

About The Position

A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers. Our team's mission statement is Edge Capacity, Optimally Delivered, and this includes the global delivery of network capacity to enable Google's users to access our content and services. Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. We're proud to be our engineers' engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them. We keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program management.
  • Experience with network capacity planning.
  • Experience in network infrastructure (e.g., Edge Infrastructure, Network design, Network optimization).

Nice To Haves

  • 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience with network infrastructure, rack and stack, device commissioning, and quality acceptance control.
  • Experience supporting network deployments and creating deployment packages.
  • Experience planning and coordinating with field operation technicians, engineers, contractors, or vendors in a telecommunications working environment.

Responsibilities

  • Identify process, tooling, documentation and reporting gaps within our delivery workflow and provide recommendations for improvement to ensure smooth deployment of infrastructure capacity to meet the needs of our internal and external customers.
  • Lead kickoff and regular project status meetings and keep downstream teams at Google apprised of project and delivery status.
  • Evaluate and communicate the impact of project scope changes, identify risks, issues and mitigation strategies and work with the team to fix problems.
  • Facilitate review and acceptance of vendor handover documentation.
  • Assist upstream planning, design, and acquisition teams in developing infrastructure requirements, priorities, and delivery date expectations.
  • Engage with engineering staff to troubleshoot deployment issues to determine root causes and solutions and present your team's analyses, recommendations and approaches to stakeholders.
