Technical Program Manager, Data

Rocket MoneyWashington, DC
3h$100,000 - $150,000

About The Position

We're looking for a talented Technical Program Manager (TPM) to join our team and accelerate data initiatives that help scale Rocket Money's technology organization. In this role, you'll drive cross-functional collaboration, strategic planning, and successful delivery of core technology initiatives, with a primary focus on data programs and projects. You'll work closely with the Data Analytics, Analytics Engineering, Machine Learning Engineering and Data Platforms teams to execute on key data programs that impact our entire product technology ecosystem. The ideal candidate brings both strategic vision and hands-on program management capabilities to advance our data-driven goals. As a member of our newly formed TPM team, you'll have the unique advantage of working across the product technology organization with the benefit of a discipline-focused peer group. You’ll report to our TPM Team Lead, while working day-to-day in a matrix structure supporting data programs. The ideal candidate is a true systems thinker who shines at connecting the dots and translating complexity into clear, actionable plans. You know when to monitor, when to support, and when to facilitate action; you understand that intention and follow-through are critical to being an effective TPM. Success in your first year looks like becoming a key thought partner for Data Platforms, supporting the program’s growth as they build scalable, secure infrastructure that empowers all data practitioners across Rocket Money. You’ll dive into Rocket Money’s experimentation frameworks, connecting partners across data, engineering, product, research, and design to drive impactful improvements, thoughtful iteration, and consistency.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience leading technical projects in a product technology organization, and 1+ year in a technical program management role.
  • You have worked with agile development teams and are familiar with the key concepts.
  • You have partnered with Data teams and have hands-on experience supporting experimentation and analysis focused efforts, backed by a strong understanding of the Data Lifecycle and the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • You thrive on bringing clarity and organization to teams, not just resolving blockers, but getting to the heart of why they start in the first place.
  • Critical thinking is your superpower. You’re skilled at solving tough, multi-layered problems, often several at once, in dynamic environments.
  • You know how to track and communicate the ROI of deeply technical projects.
  • You act as the technical glue, connecting teams, bridging knowledge gaps, and building trust and collaboration wherever you go.
  • You have great intuition around when you can advocate on behalf of others, and know when to pull in other team members to help drive something forward.
  • You bring a caring approach to your work, understanding that successful programs are built on strong relationships and psychological safety.
  • Communication is an art for you. You have a high level of emotional intelligence, and feel confident influencing outcomes without direct authority.

Responsibilities

  • Place the long-term success of the Data team’s technical programs at the core of your responsibilities. Align initiatives across teams and departments, guide programs toward strategic goals, and monitor program-level impact and outcomes.
  • Guide key programs such as Experimentation and Data Governance, while proactively identifying new strategic opportunities and championing the overall health and maturity of the data organization.
  • Facilitate the development of program OKRs, annual planning, quarterly roadmaps, program plans, and sprint plans that balance team needs and organizational priorities, in close collaboration with partners.
  • Ensure delivery and completeness by leading key activities: backlog refinement, planning, prioritization, diverse stakeholder alignment, resolving blockers, risk escalation, and maintaining comprehensive status views.
  • Implement systems that streamline operations, reduce misalignment, and maintain high quality standards. Have the intuition to add value through structure without introducing too much red tape.
  • Lead and coordinate large cross-functional projects for the technology organization at R$, including initiatives outside core Data programs as required.
  • Champion the organizational impact of data by bringing data lifecycle considerations to the forefront of cross-functional initiatives, maximizing both impact and learning.
  • Serve as an extension of our Technology team when working with counterparts inside R$ and the Rocket Family of Companies.
