About The Position

The Technical Professional Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GN&C) engineer will provide support of Commercial Crew Transportation System (CCTS) Mission Planning & Analysis and GN&C Engineering teams. Tasks include running desktop simulations of the Starliner spacecraft, plotting and analyzing data, and using Monte Carlo analysis to determine spacecraft performance versus requirements. Secondary tasks involve reviewing flight data, software parameter inputs, operational procedures and notes, and other documentation required to evaluate performance. The position requires a strong dedication to detail.

Requirements

  • An understanding of the physics, mathematics, and theory of spacecraft and orbital dynamics
  • Exposure to Global Positioning System (GPS), Attitude Control, and spacecraft Guidance
  • Fluency in Matlab and Simulink
  • Bachelor or Master of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics.
  • Current drivers’ license
  • Proof of U.S. citizenship
  • Ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility
  • Curriculum should have included calculus, probability & statistics, numerical methods, vector/matrix/quaternion, linear systems.
  • Minimum background should include basic computer science/programming experience, especially with Matlab.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Unix, C, C++, Java, Fortran, or Ada is considered a plus.
