About The Position

As a Product Manager II, Search Platform, you are the architect of the infrastructure that powers search experiences across HCP. This is a platform role: your primary customers are internal domain teams, and your impact is measured by how effectively they can build, ship, and evolve high-quality search experiences. You hold two perspectives simultaneously: building for an elite developer experience without losing the thread back to Pro outcomes. You set the long-term vision for the search infrastructure that powers HCP - defining how it scales, evolves, and enables product teams to deliver high-quality search experiences. Our team is passionate, empathetic, hard working, and above all else focused on improving the lives of our service professionals (our Pros). Our success is their success.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of product management experience, specifically with platform, infrastructure, or developer-facing products
  • Practical experience working with product management for platforms and ideally search systems (i.e. OpenSearch, Elasticsearch, or similar...)
  • Experience defining APIs, SDKs, or internal platform contracts consumed by other teams
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to define and monitor platform health and performance metrics
  • SaaS product experience, ideally supporting business workflows where search is mission-critical
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage AI tools to accelerate product development, improve engineering collaboration, and ship higher-quality outcomes faster
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

Nice To Haves

  • Genuine motivation to champion for the Search Platform team direct customers (i.e., internal product/engineering teams)
  • Experience working with hybrid search architectures that combine traditional keyword/vector search with AI or LLM-based retrieval (e.g. RAG, semantic search, re-ranking)
  • Familiarity with applied ML or LLM integration patterns in product environments
  • Ability to operate strategically while unblocking tactical infrastructure issues
  • Clear, persuasive communication style that makes complex infrastructure tradeoffs legible to stakeholders
  • Genuine care for end-customer outcomes and connecting platform investments to Pro workflows
  • Track record of delivering outcomes in fast-paced environments

Responsibilities

  • Define the long-term vision for search infrastructure at HCP
  • Identify opportunities to accelerate product velocity to meet domain teams' needs
  • Make decisions about infrastructure and internal builds that will have the most direct impacts on our Pros and our business
  • Bring an AI-first mindset to your work - using AI tools to compress discovery, spec writing, and cross-functional coordination so the team spends more time building and less time syncing
  • Analyze performance, latency, and search quality to proactively surface risks and evaluate opportunities to improve search across the platform
  • Own and communicate the Search Platform roadmap, balancing reliability with high-leverage capabilities
  • Define and evolve the contracts between the platform and domain teams (i.e. schemas, field standards, APIs...)
  • Improve workflows for schema changes and re-indexing to reduce friction and risk
  • Partner with engineering on index design, data pipelines, search APIs, and observability
  • Improve abstraction layers so domain teams can build search experiences without needing deep infrastructure expertise
  • Establish feedback loops with domain teams to continuously improve developer experience and platform usability

Benefits

  • A generous benefits program that supports the whole you with medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and 401(k)
  • Paid holidays and flexible, take-it-as-you-need-it paid time off
  • Equity in a rapidly growing startup backed by top-tier VCs
  • Monthly tech reimbursements
  • A culture built on innovation that values big ideas, no matter where they come from
