About The Position

Our Technical Operator on 1st shift (Mon-Fri, 6am-2:30pm) is a skilled position to produce lawn and garden tools and components. This wood cell position is also responsible for ensuring ample coverage to meet quality standards by monitoring line and associates tending line for ideal production rates and for ensuring all safety, environmental and scrapping procedures are followed.

Requirements

  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend simple instructions and write simple correspondence.
  • Lock-Out/Tag-Out certification.
  • Pass and maintain current industrial forklift & man lift certifications.
  • Personal protective equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate the understanding of all required paperwork to include but not limited to the Bill of Materials (BOM), Hour x Hour sheet, basic tool prints, communication boards, standard work documents, and quality visuals.
  • Demonstrate the capability to meet or exceed established production rates and standards.
  • Perform operator fundamentals including simple problem-solving including ability to clear routine machine jams, identify and fix routine/repetitive problems, notify appropriate support person if unable to resolve problem themselves.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Regularly perform primarily pre-scheduled job duties at a normal pace; occasionally perform primarily pre-scheduled job duties at a rapid pace.
  • Follow the required standard work and achieve the published standard work goals.
  • Participating in continuous improvement through cost savings suggestions, CI Events, or other related activities.
  • Work and communicate in a professional manner with all business associates.
  • Must comply with all safety policies and procedures, including, but not limited to wearing all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Other duties as assigned (including, but not limited to, training of others within job class, housekeeping, reporting labor & production, continuous improvement activities, etc.).
  • Perform changeovers as required to adjust ruffing head, Sicotte, sanding operation, UV operations and inspection stage.
  • Audit material, components, and work instructions for assigned cells and areas are correct and available as needed to assure maximum uptime of production.
  • Assure products are produced meeting all quality expectations.
  • Perform a minimum of five changeovers in a minimum of two different product cells within current time standards.
  • Complete to routine complex set-ups involving multiple interdependent adjustments and/or simple infrequent set-ups in a timely manner.
  • Implement 3 diameter changes, 10 non-diameter changes tied to standard work within 90 days.
  • Perform tolerance checks and read blueprints.
  • Complete routine troubleshooting/problem solving and/or preventative maintenance (including, but not limited to, understanding all machine controls, ability to identify and fix the source of most production problems and address rework as necessary.
  • Follow all policies and procedures.
