About The Position

Responsible for all management functions of the plant Technical Group. The Technical Group’s primary purpose is to provide technical/engineering assistance to the facility. This involves support of the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the Coffeyville Nitrogen Fertilizer facility. The Technical Group also supports the long-term capital project strategy and manages both small and large capital projects.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, Chemical Engineering preferred
  • 10+ years of chemical plant operational experience required
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of state and federal regulations that apply to facility required
  • 5+ years supervisory experience required
  • Strong mathematical, reasoning, problem solving and an understanding of P&IDs
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex issues and effectively resolve problems within a limited timeframe required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of business acumen required, including strategies, roles and responsibilities of all departments in similar manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated leadership in a “Safety First” environment
  • Fluent in English, oral and written required
  • Ability to adjust schedule to meet business needs

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with capital and operating cost estimating and economic analysis is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Support all plant safety, environmental and quality assurance goals and initiatives
  • To be mentor and supervisor to less experienced engineers and technicians
  • Maintain accurate facility process safety information per OSHA requirements, technology, engineering and equipment files, heat and material balances, PSV sizing scenarios and improving document control
  • Facilitate personnel development by participation through outside training sponsored by suppliers, manufacturers and other training facilities
  • Investigation of improved methods of plant operation, energy savings and equipment efficiency are priorities of this position
  • Assist Operations and Maintenance personnel in solving plant problems
  • Promote and facilitate communications with line supervision, which results in improved solutions to problems
  • Determine and propose engineering studies to improve plant efficiency and equipment reliability
  • Provide mechanical design, procurement, planning and supervision of capital projects
  • Analyzing and evaluating process problems and performing feasibility studies of plant modifications
  • Supporting capital project management
  • Participate in the scheduling of outside vendors and contractors
  • Enhance the plant safety program by conducting/facilitating incident investigations and process hazard analyses.
  • Manage replacement of and monitor facility catalyst and refractory
  • Regularly communicate with supervisor work progress, concerns and questions
  • Exposure to work near potentially volatile and combustible materials and chemicals
