About The Position

The Technical Manager - Strategic Accounts is a senior, Melbourne-based role leading fibre packaging technical engagement across Visy’s most important strategic customers (e.g., major FMCG clients). Operating at the intersection of customer expectations, technical excellence, and operational capability this role ensures disciplined, standardized and commercially sound technical outcomes - protecting Visy’s standards while enabling customer success. This is an influence-led leadership role. While not site-based and without direct reports, it requires strong credibility, structured problem solving and the ability to align Sales, Operations, Quality and Supply Chain to deliver consistent enterprise-level outcomes.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in senior, customer-facing technical roles
  • Strong business acumen and commercial judgement to balance customer needs with operational capability and risk
  • Proven ability to lead root cause investigations and deliver corrective actions
  • Experience in value engineering and delivering technical solutions for strategic accounts
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, influencing without formal authority
  • Highly professional and credible at senior customer level
  • Strong organisation, communication, and documentation skills

Nice To Haves

  • Packaging or FMCG industry experience is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of sustainability, compliance, and continuous improvement methodologies is an advantage

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the senior technical interface for nominated strategic accounts
  • Lead structured, data-driven root cause investigations and corrective action programs
  • Drive cross-site standardisation of technical solutions and processes
  • Lead value engineering initiatives that optimise performance, cost and sustainability
  • Translate the voice of the customer into Visy’s fibre packaging technical strategy
  • Prepare and present technical insights and recommendations to senior internal and customer stakeholders
  • Influence internal teams to deliver disciplined, repeatable and high-quality outcomes
  • Represent Visy’s operational and commercial interests in complex customer environments
