About The Position

Provides technical and operational support to the UMCS AIRWorks team with emphasis on control station maintenance planning, test site stand-up, and development of maintenance concepts for UMCS systems. Coordinating and supporting MQ-25/UMCS efforts in the development, review, and refinement of control station maintenance processes, procedures, and documentation for test sites and transition-to-fielding activities. Apply prior Naval Aviation maintenance and sustainment experience to assess system supportability, maintenance feasibility, and operational suitability for UMCS control station environments. Assist in planning and development of maintenance documentation for UMCS test sites, including corrective and preventive maintenance procedures, support equipment requirements, and sustainment-related technical products. Support maintenance transition planning for fielding by helping define organizational responsibilities, maintenance concepts, and logistics support requirements for control station operations. Analyze technical sustainment requirements and review maintenance procedures to identify gaps, inconsistencies, and risks affecting system readiness and supportability.

Requirements

  • Security Clearance Required: Secret Clearance.
  • JOURNEYMAN: A Journeyman level person within a labor category has 3 to 10 years of experience related to the functional duties for that labor category and a BA/BS degree.
  • Allowable Education/ Experience Substitutions: Six (6) years additional relevant work experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s Degree. Associate’s Degree plus four (4) years additional relevant work experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • SENIOR: A Senior level person within a labor category has over 10 years of experience related to the functional duties for that labor category and a MA/MS degree.
  • Allowable Education/ Experience Substitutions: Ten (10) years of additional relevant work experience may be substituted for a Master’s degree. Associate’s degree plus eight (8) years of additional relevant work experience may be substituted for a Master’s Degree. Bachelor’s Degree plus four (4) years of additional relevant work experience may be substituted for a master’s degree.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP); COMNAVAIRIST 4790.
  • Knowledge of NALCOMIS/OOMA reporting process.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine draft control station maintenance processes and detailed task descriptions for operators, maintainers, and support personnel.
  • Support drafting and review of Safe for Flight, Safe for Test, and related technical procedures as applicable to UMCS test and operational environments.
  • Review engineering data, failure trends, and maintenance actions to provide recommendations on sparing requirements, replacement strategies, and suitable substitute parts.
  • Redline and review maintenance publications, technical manuals, and associated sustainment documents to improve clarity, accuracy, and fleet usability.
  • Provide analysis and reporting on equipment failures, troubleshooting methods, remove-and-replace procedures, and maintenance recovery actions.
  • Support VIDS/MAF documentation, maintenance action tracking, and discrepancy reporting to ensure accurate capture of system issues and corrective actions.
  • Evaluate control station and maintenance procedures for technical, logistical, and operational gaps; recommend process improvements to enhance reliability and maintainability.
  • Coordinate with Configuration Management personnel to validate part numbers, system configurations, hardware baselines, and installation changes.
  • Participate in functional and physical verification efforts for UMCS test sites, ensuring equipment configurations, maintenance documentation, and support planning align with system design and test objectives.
  • Interface with engineering, logistics, configuration management, and test teams to ensure maintenance planning is integrated into overall system development and site readiness efforts.
  • Assist in development of sparing plans, maintenance support concepts, and sustainment recommendations to improve readiness for testing and future operational deployment.
  • Provide practical fleet-informed insight on Naval Aviation maintenance processes, technical publications, documentation standards, and field-level execution.
