This position provides strategic leadership for automation projects which will impact various locations in the North America Supply Chain. You will partner with the other team members within staff and the mills, along with working closely with our vendors and suppliers. This role will help define the on-machine automation strategy and lead the implementation of Automation solutions for our key supply chain opportunity areas in distribution, manufacturing, and in-process and on-machine solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in engineering and 10+ years of related experience.
  • Expertise in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering or Mechatronics with a demonstrated ability to translate that knowledge into execution of process and capacity improvements in capital or expense projects.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with individuals across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability and flexibility to work in a manufacturing environment with a 24/7 operation
  • Flexibility to travel up to 25% as dictated by business need for meetings, machine install or start-up support, benchmarking, or best practice sharing across North America.
  • Familiarity with Tissue and Diaper manufacturing technologies or high-speed manufacturing, Automation technologies or experience with Automated Guided Vehicles, and robotic solutions are preferred.

  • 15+ years of experience in a combination of engineering, operations, and/or leadership
  • Familiarity with Tissue and Diaper manufacturing technologies or high speed manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated development of novel technologies and solving production challenges with innovative solutions.
  • Experience with Automation technologies and/or experience with Automated Guided Vehicles
  • Experience in robotic solutions
  • Experience with Advance Process Control and Digital Twin technologies
  • Familiarity with capital project management, equipment installations and start-ups
  • Evidence of continuing self-development

Responsibilities

  • Carry out all job responsibilities in a safe manner; set the example for others in the area of safety.
  • Develop equipment and processes that meet safety codes, policies and guidelines.
  • Provide for the safety and well-being of operators, reliability, and other personnel.
  • Support the development of the NA SC automation strategy.
  • Support Appropriation definition and execution for Automation implementation across the North American Supply Chain.
  • Develop knowledge of Automation systems to support implementation and act as a SME for new systems. You will be accountable to share and expand that knowledge throughout the enterprise.
  • Collaborate with Mill, Staff, Vendors, Contractors, and other KCNA/Global facilities in developing and rolling out Automation solutions for on-machine production and material delivery challenges across the supply chain.
  • Lead design discussions with Mill and Central teams to review Scope, obtain alignment and feedback – Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Logistics, EHS, IT
  • Convert automation innovations into tangible business outcomes and cost savings to acquire support for implementation.
