What impact you’ll make? HD Services complex ITO Engineering team owns the application engineering of conversions, modifications, and uprates (CM&U) to the installed fleet of HD Gas Turbines. The Technical Leader will provide leadership and technical direction to application engineers supporting Gas Turbine CM&U opportunities, proposals and projects. In this role you will also be responsible for managing the pre-ITO / R1 Solutioning to ITO handoff on behalf of the application engineering, supporting initiatives that drive productivity and providing technical oversight/direction to ensure safety, quality and on time delivery to our Gas Power Services customers. The Technical leader will interact actively with other teams such as Design Engineering, Sales, Project Management, Field Services and Supply chain.

Requirements

  • This role requires significant knowledge and experience in the function as listed above
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited University or Equivalent Knowledge and Experience level comparable to a Bachelor’s degree
  • Significant experience in direct or indirect technical leadership or application engineering experience
  • Willingness to travel internationally.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in HD Services ITO or ITR Engineering
  • Experience with Hot Gas Path (HGP), Accessories and Balance of Plant (BoP) for Heavy Duty Gas Turbine (HDGT) across B, E, F and H Frames.
  • Able to understand, adapt and anticipate the relationships of major equipment inside a power plant.
  • Knowledge of the Legacy Alstom Gas Turbine technology
  • Knowledge of the GE Gas Turbine product portfolio.
  • Strong leadership/interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven technical knowledge of Gas Power Services ITR processes and upgrades offerings
  • Developed network of contacts within Sales, Product Line, and Engineering organizations
  • Demonstrated commitment to Lean operations and methods
  • Demonstrated aptitude for process implementation and change management

  • Knowledge of GE Gas Turbine product lines and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Review (Scope, cost and Schedule), evaluate risks, lead technical discussions as part of Pre-ITO to ITO (R1) and ITO-OTR hand off (R3) and assign the incoming CM&U orders to the appropriate team members based on workload and technical ability.
  • Provide technical leadership and oversight for a team of ITO engineers to help drive Gas Power services growth for core gas upgrades
  • Collaborate with the interfacing teams like Sales, Commercial managers, Project managers, Regional ITO teams and design engineering teams, in reviewing the opportunity / contract needs and to evaluate risks.
  • Provide technical direction to interfacing teams as required, so as to achieve the business KPIs and Objectives of the project / contract.
  • Lead various initiatives, process improvements, continuous improvement, kaizens / PSRs aimed to drive measurable improvement focused in the areas of safety, quality, delivery and cost (SQDC) for Gas Turbine Services upgrade proposals and projects.
  • Promote professional growth through timely performance feedback, coaching and mentoring of the team members.
  • Own and manage KPI's/metrics unique to the core upgrades space through daily management to foster business growth and margin enhancement.
  • Lead the daily management of the ITO KPIs, support team to meet ITR KPIs and conduct Lean PSR, if the KPIs are off the target.
  • Interface with Contractor Team members to distribute workload for best resource allocation and drive quality and on time delivery of project deliverables.
  • Demonstrate autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework and lead other Individual Contributors
  • Responsible for driving cost of quality reductions resulting from the fulfillment of CM&U opportunities.
  • Resolve issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures.
  • Support other team members both domestically and globally.
  • Promote professional growth through timely performance feedback, coaching and mentoring of the team members.
