About The Position

The Technical Leader - Civil Structural Engineering, contributes to the team responsible for the development of Civil Engineering activities in support the New Plants Engineering projects. The Technical Leader will perform activities within a team environment, working with a global team of partner organizations and suppliers to successfully deliver New Nuclear Plant Projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or other engineering discipline from an accredited college or University.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in civil structural engineering.
  • Professional Engineer registration in one or more state.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong background in seismic analysis, harmonic and time history analysis, soil-structure interaction analyses, ANSYS and SASSI software experience.
  • Master's Degree or greater in an engineering discipline from an accredited college or University.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of Nuclear or Industrial Technology or Engineering experience is preferred.
  • Nuclear Industry knowledge / experience.
  • Strong knowledge of fundamental engineering principles, BWR core/fuel material behavior, and mechanical or structural design fundamentals.
  • Strong communication and writing skills.
  • Strong facilitation, team building, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of project management.
  • Knowledge of quality standards and systems (e.g., NQA-1 and ISO 9000).
  • Strong analytical capabilities, problem solving and process skills.

  • A self-starter willing to take initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Technical Leadership of a small group of Engineers and Contractors in activities related to analyses, calculations and technical evaluations required for timely resolution of design and implementation issues.
  • Lead and guide a technical team in performing seismic and soil-structure interaction (SSI) analyses, ensuring high technical quality.
  • Manage project work schedules and priorities.
  • Mentor and provide technical leadership in area of expertise to other engineers and projects.
  • Support civil systems design and/or equipment construction activities, respond to vendor questions and deviation requests; review and approve vendor document submittals.
  • Support the certification processes for GE Products (e.g. BWRX-300, VTR, Natrium) to address all US NRC (or other nuclear regulator) design certification requirements.
  • Establish and maintain technical oversight of the applicable regulations (e.g.; US, other national, or global region).
  • Interface with internal and external customers, suppliers, partners, licensing, the NRC and international regulatory authorities on technical issues.
  • Incorporate design requirements into analyses and design documents.
  • Support GEH quality requirements, including participation in design reviews.
  • Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
  • Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.
