About The Position

The Technical Lead is responsible for leading and executing production line activities during an assigned shift to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant manufacturing operations. This role serves as the technical and operational point of contact on the floor, supporting Aptyx's quality-driven culture by ensuring product conformance, documentation accuracy, and adherence to established procedures and performance expectations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two to five years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a regulated or medical device setting.
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge of manufacturing processes, procedures, and production equipment.
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic.
  • Strong manual dexterity and ability to operate machinery and computer systems.
  • Proven critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • High attention to detail with a strong commitment to quality and documentation accuracy.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior lead or supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working within ISO 13485 and/or ISO 9001 quality systems.
  • Experience with extrusion processes, medical tubing, or similar polymer manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and operate assigned production lines in accordance with Aptyx policies, procedures, and applicable quality system requirements.
  • Act as the technical resource on shift for equipment operation, process execution, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Supervise, train, coach, and support production personnel in coordination with the Production Floor Supervisor.
  • Ensure products are manufactured within approved specifications; make real-time process adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency.
  • Identify, segregate, and reject nonconforming product in accordance with established procedures.
  • Oversee product quality and verify accuracy and completeness of production and quality documentation for the shift.
  • Execute shift activities including workstation assignments, rotations, employee breaks, and training coverage.
  • Coordinate production start-ups, shutdowns, changeovers, and routine machine maintenance with direction from Production Management.
  • Partner with the Production Floor Supervisor to ensure appropriate staffing levels and effective resource utilization.
  • Drive achievement of shift-level safety, quality, delivery, and productivity goals.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
  • Communicate effectively with incoming and outgoing Technical Leads during shift changeovers to ensure continuity of operations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Verify completion and accuracy of all shift documentation, including production run sheets, quality control records, packaging requests, and production reporting.
  • Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times and model safe work behaviors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Perform in-process and final quality control testing as required.
  • Provide backup support for Manufacturing and Warehouse personnel as business needs dictate.
  • Deliver ongoing on-the-job training to production employees.
  • Perform plastic tubing extrusion operations, when applicable.
  • Support continuous improvement activities, including standard work and process optimization.
