About The Position

Working within Bio-Rad's Clinical Diagnostics Group R&D organization as a Sr Staff Electrical Systems Engineer, you'll take engineering concepts and requirements and transform them into functional prototypes and finished products that improve healthcare outcomes for people around the world. Leveraging your knowledge of engineering principles and best practices, you'll have an active role in the development and testing of new products. You'll also collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and scientists, providing your technical knowledge and insights to ensure our products deliver the highest levels of quality and functionality. Within the Instrument Engineering group we are looking for an experienced Staff Engineer focused on the development of Electrical Engineering for existing and new instruments. We are looking for an energetic and passionate Electrical Engineer working closely and collaborating with a multi-disciplinary engineering group to develop complex electronics with a proven track record in specifying and designing embedded electronics, sensors, motors, and actuators, deploying, testing and debugging for clinical diagnostic instruments. Ability to work with cross-functional teams and willingness to jump in and do what it takes to deliver on commitments will make you a successful part of the team.

Requirements

  • Minimum college degree of B.S. and 10+ years of electrical engineering.
  • Proficient in Orcad, CAD design tools.
  • Proficient in microcontroller devices, Altium designer.
  • Excellent knowledge and skills with lab test equipment such as multimeter, oscilloscope, logic analyzer and power supply.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills and a team player.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting experience to resolve EMI/EMC/ESD.
  • Familiarity to life science safety standards, such as IEC61010 and risk management.

Responsibilities

  • Develop electronic architecture from system requirement to the PCBA board level.
  • Experience designing PCBA containing microprocessors and motor control drivers.
  • Design mixed-signal reliable electronics at the component selection, schematic entry, PCB layout, board bring-up, and verification for both prototype and manufacturing NPI.
  • Work closely with the multi-disciplinary team to design and solve challenging engineering problems.
  • Perform hardware testing at the instrument level and provide feedback to the rest of the team.
  • Lead and be accountable for the System Configuration management of all the HW changes to the fleet of Instruments.
  • Lead and be accountable for all the EE components to the SAP/PLM environment.
  • Create complete engineering documentation, test protocol, and compliance in a regulatory environment for robotic systems.
  • Prepare, plan and lead the EE design reviews and be accountable.
