As part of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and integrity of laboratory testing, contributing to the health and wellness of our community.

  • Prepare and label specimen slides (Gram stains, peripheral blood smears, bone marrow aspirations).
  • Manage lab supply inventory.
  • Prepare, assess integrity, and document reagents and controls.
  • Load specimens onto automated processors and initiate testing.
  • Recognize and mitigate testing errors.
  • Perform waived tests across the department.
  • Conduct analyzer calibrations.
  • Perform quality control for test systems and ensure compliance with guidelines.
  • Understand resulting guidelines, including critical values and delta checks.
  • Setup specimen plates in Microbiology.
  • Visually inspect specimens for quality, including volume and gross clots.
  • Log specimens into the lab information system as needed.
  • Distribute specimens to testing areas following triage guidelines.
  • Follow proper specimen/patient identification processes.
  • Perform clerical duties including short-registration, order entry, scanning, and filing.
  • Investigate and resolve problems with orders and specimens.
  • Familiarize with correct specimen types and processing procedures.
  • Dispose of biohazardous material.
  • Perform specimen storage and retrieval.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous hospital laboratory experience preferred.
  • Basic clerical skills, including typing, filing, medical terminology, and computer literacy.
  • Previous lab experience and/or medical background preferred.
  • Ability to lift objects up to 25 lbs.
  • CPR/BLS certification preferred.
  • Excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills.
  • Punctual attendance at assigned work location is required.
  • Outstanding attention to detail.
  • Ability to work safely and maintain an accident-free workplace.
  • Knowledge of emergency codes and compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Ability to comply with provisions of applicable S.D.S. forms.
  • Successful completion of a 90-day probationary period.
