About The Position

The Technical Supervisor is responsible for the technical and scientific oversight of the laboratory and must be available and willing to provide consultation in these matters.

Requirements

  • MD, DO with current medical license in state of lab’s location AND certified in anatomic and/or clinical pathology by ABP, AOBP, or equivalent qualifications
  • MD, DO, DPM with current medical license in state of lab’s location AND certified in clinical pathology by ABP, AOBP, or equivalent
  • MD, DO, DPM with current medical license in state of lab’s location AND 1 year training/experience in high complexity testing in the respective specialty
  • PhD in clinical laboratory science, chemical, physical, biological science AND 1 year training/experience in high complexity testing in the respective specialty
  • Masters in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, chemical, physical, or biological science AND 2 years training/experience in high complexity testing in the respective specialty
  • Bachelors in medical technology, chemical, physical, or biological science AND 4 years training/experience in high complexity testing in the respective specialty

Responsibilities

  • Select test methodologies appropriate for clinical test menu
  • Verify test procedures performed and establishes the laboratory performance criteria, including accuracy and precision of each test method and each system
  • Enrolls the lab in an approved proficiency testing (PT) program in accordance to the services offered by the laboratory
  • Establishes a quality control (QC) program appropriate for the testing performed
  • Establishes the acceptable levels of analytical performance in the laboratory, and ensures that these levels are maintained throughout the testing process
  • Resolves any technical problems and ensures remedial actions are taken whenever testing systems deviate from the laboratory established performance specifications
  • Ensures that patient test results are not reported until any necessary corrective action is taken, and that all testing systems are functioning properly
  • Identifies training needs, and ensures that all testing personnel receive regular in-service training
  • Evaluates the competency of all testing personnel on an on-going basis
  • Evaluates and documents the performances of individuals responsible for testing at six months and twelve months in the first year of employment, and yearly thereafter a. In the case that testing methodology changes, new evaluations must be completed prior to reporting any patient results on the new testing methodology
