About The Position

The Technical Intern -AI will supports i3 in a technical area related to the student’s current area of graduate or undergraduate study, with an emphasis on emerging AI technologies. The intern will learn and apply skills related to their degree while contributing to projects involving autonomous systems such as drones and self-driving vehicles, as well as integration with Department of Defense (DoD) hardware platforms. Work is performed under immediate supervision and provides real-world application of classroom knowledge in AI-driven autonomy, sensor fusion, and secure system integration. This internship is for the Summer 2026 timeframe and is located onsite in Huntsville, AL.

Requirements

Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate level degree program in relevant area at an accredited college/university at the time of the internship.
Required minimum GPA is 3.0.
0-5 years of relevant experience.
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
U.S. Citizenship is required.
Knowledge of office administration and procedures.
Exceptional judgment capabilities and relationship management skills.
Excellent communication, teamwork, and client service skills; ability to clearly communicate in discussions and written documents, and to deliver feedback clearly and tactfully.
Interact with a diverse array of customers and staff in a professional and courteous manner.

Responsibilities

Experience hands on work experience in support of on-going projects.
Provide administrative and technical support.
Deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment by managing time and effort across multiple projects.
Assist in research and development tasks related to AI-driven autonomy for drones and self-driving vehicles.
Support integration and testing of AI algorithms with DoD hardware platforms and secure systems
Other duties as assigned.
