About The Position

Under the general supervision of and mentoring by MSA Systems Electrical Reliability Engineers, gain familiarity with reliability requirements that enable Mission Success. Be mentored by Mission Assurance (MA) Leadership, MSA Leadership, and Reliability Engineers to understand the role and possible future employment opportunities. Interface with a variety of Engineering disciplines and programs across BAE SMS as you perform your role and develop understanding of the industry. Under the general supervision of a Senior-Level Reliability Engineer, gain familiarity of a variety of work metrics utilized in the Reliability Engineering discipline, both in the terrestrial and space domains: Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), Mean Time Between Critical Failures (MTBCF), Mean Time to Recovery / Mean Time to Restore (MTTR), Probability of Success (Ps), Operational Availability (Ao). Under the general supervision of a Senior-Level Reliability Engineer, gain familiarity of a variety of analyses utilized in the Reliability Engineering discipline, both in the terrestrial and space domains: Reliability Prediction, Part Stress Analysis (PSA), Failure Modes Effects Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Worst Case Circuit Analysis (WCCA), Limited Life Analysis (LLA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and/or Probabilistic Risk Assessment, Built-In Test (BIT) Analysis. Learn to employ a strong understanding of the drivers for component and system reliability to identify potential risk to the program early in design. Create accurate electrical reliability component parameter variation models to be entered into a database. Analyze electrical circuits classically and/or using SPICE. Opportunity to investigate and analyze failures in electrical circuits. Learn to translate written requirements from both internal and external sources into simple, straight-forward requirements. Opportunity to assist other Reliability Engineers in completing their tasks for hands-on experience. Engineer efficiencies with ownership of a Continual Improvement Project having defined milestones, with high MSA and Enterprise Assurance visibility. Understand the role Reliability Engineering and MSA plays in the overall Program Lifecycle within BAE SMS, as well as the Engineering interfaces. Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule. Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment. Perform other duties as necessary.

Requirements

  • Must have completed your sophomore or junior year and be enrolled in a degree program for the fall of 2026.
  • Degree must be from a university, college, or school accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education.
  • Have a track record of highly collaborative working skills in a team environment.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, including strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Possess strong analytic capabilities and organizational skills.
  • Experience utilizing mathematical software tools.
  • Ability to document analysis results and write clear and concise reports.
  • Ability to efficiently learn new subjects/techniques/software independently.
  • Ability to contribute to the success of small teams through excellent teamwork.
