The State of Connecticut, Connecticut Technical Education and Career System (CTECS) invites applicants to apply for a full-time Assistant Principal position at Bullard-Havens Technical High School in Bridgeport, CT. This position is accountable for assisting with directing the operation of a Technical and Career System school or for administrative duties in the System's central office. The role includes supervising educational professionals, paraprofessionals, maintenance, security, or other support staff in a Technical Education and Career System school or the System's central office.

  • Assist the Technical High School Principal with development and implementation of school improvement plans.
  • Oversee and lead education administrative functions over major program areas in the System's central office.
  • Assist with staff activities and oversight of all related school functions.
  • Develop comprehensive long and short term goals and objectives supporting educational initiatives.
  • Make recommendations to assist with System policy, program priorities, funding, legislation, and regulation.
  • Administer pertinent laws within assigned school or central office.
  • Lead the school-wide scheduling team to develop efficient and student-centered schedules.
  • Oversee the student assessment process including collecting and analyzing student data.
  • Assist with controls of fiscal operations within the school.
  • Supervise and evaluate instructional and operational staff.
  • Provide support to teachers in their classrooms through coaching, modeling, and mentoring.
  • Respond to inquiries from the public concerning education initiatives and programs.
  • A Master's degree.
  • At least five (5) years of teaching experience.
  • Two (2) years of education leadership/supervisory experience.
  • Must hold a current and valid Intermediate Administration and Supervisor Certificate (Endorsement #092) issued by the State Board of Education.
  • Experience in Title 1, including evidence of formulating ideas for appropriate programming.
  • Experience working with an adolescent population in an urban setting using research-based strategies.
  • Experience with staff evaluation methods and leading school reform initiatives.
  • Experience coaching teachers to improve or impact instruction.
  • Experience utilizing student data to improve student performance.
  • Experience using technology to support instruction and special education programming.
  • Experience building relationships with students, parents, staff, and the community.
  • Experience implementing Marzano instructional strategies in an Administrative or Department Head role.
