About The Position

Sanderson Ford is looking for a hands-on Technical Field Engineer (Tier 1 Support) to support our automotive operations, including dealerships, service centers, and production environments. This role focuses on maintaining and troubleshooting the technology that keeps vehicles, diagnostics, and shop systems running efficiently. Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in IT, Automotive Technology, or related field.
  • 0–2 years of experience in IT support, field service, or automotive technical environments
  • Basic knowledge of: Windows OS and mobile devices, Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, Wi-Fi troubleshooting), Hardware diagnostics and repair
  • Interest or experience in automotive systems and diagnostic tools
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to travel locally to dealerships/service centers
  • Valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with automotive diagnostic platforms (OEM scan tools, OBD systems)
  • Experience in a dealership or service shop environment
  • Knowledge of shop management software or parts systems
  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, Cisco CCNA.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Tier 1 technical support for dealership and shop-floor systems
  • Troubleshoot issues with diagnostic tools, service equipment, and shop PCs
  • Install, configure, and maintain hardware such as: Vehicle diagnostic scanners, Shop management systems, Workstations, tablets, and printers
  • Support network connectivity in service bays and office environments (Wi-Fi, LAN)
  • Assist with software used in automotive operations (service scheduling, parts systems, OEM tools)
  • Log and track issues in a ticketing system
  • Ensure minimal downtime for service operations and technicians
