This role is designed for a senior-level engineer with deep technical expertise who thrives on solving complex challenges. You’ll act as a trusted technical resource, ensuring innovation and quality across our transportation projects. The Transportation Technical Engineer is a senior-level role focused on providing technical depth, innovation, and quality assurance across transportation projects. While not always the project lead, you will serve as a go-to expert for complex design tasks, mentor staff, and help shape RETTEW’s technical practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering
  • PE license
  • 15+ years of technical experience in transportation or structural engineering
  • Recognized expertise in complex technical areas
  • Strong technical writing and presentation skills
  • Experience mentoring staff

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree
  • Background in advanced computational modeling or innovative design practices

Responsibilities

  • Review and stamp complex or design-critical drawings and deliverables when licensed.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in specialized technical areas such as structural stability, advanced modeling, or complex roadway and traffic geometries.
  • Provide engineering judgment, technical guidance, and mentoring to junior and mid-level staff.
  • Participate in peer review sessions and provide solutions for difficult design and constructability challenges.
  • Collaborate in research and development of new materials, methods, or technologies while contributing to design standards and internal practices.
  • Support proposals and pursuits for technically demanding projects, helping to define technical scope and risk.
