We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Technical Editor to join our team. In this role, you will ensure technical content adheres to GE Appliances' standards for accuracy, consistency, and clarity. You'll work closely with Subject Matter Experts to edit and refine service guides, training materials, videos, and other technical documentation, playing a key role in delivering exceptional content to our audience.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in technical editing.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat.
  • Strong technical and engineering comprehension.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated expertise in grammar and syntax.
  • Keen attention to detail and commitment to high-quality desktop publishing.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Familiarity with GE Appliances' digital systems and processes is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Edit service guides, training materials, and videos to ensure compliance with GE Appliances' specifications, including grammar, spelling, formatting, and logical flow.
  • Conduct comprehensive reviews using established checklists to identify and address inconsistencies or errors.
  • Analyze and outline project requirements through a detailed 'Project Analysis' email, based on the Table of Contents and editorial guidelines.
  • Ensure graphics meet quality standards for resolution, formatting, and annotations.
  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts to validate technical accuracy and finalize content.
  • Transform raw video footage into polished, audience-ready content by merging multiple sources, adding visual and sound effects, and integrating graphics and music.
  • Provide detailed analyses and feedback to the Senior Digital Learning Service Specialist, highlighting completed tasks and unresolved issues.
  • Utilize learning platforms like Raven 360, DevelopU, and EdCast LMS to deploy, track, and report training and learning content.
